Synopsis

For more than a year, I navigated life as the wife of a senior leader in the United States Air Force while my husband served on a year-long deployment. Living overseas in Japan, I balanced the demands of raising our three children with my role as an executive in the military community. Life never paused. Decisions about our family’s future, including selecting our next assignment, unfolded alongside the daily realities of school, activities, and the endless responsibilities that come with parenting alone.

Behind the appearance of resilience, however, our family was fighting battles no one could see. My own mental health was stretched to its limits, and when one of our children’s mental health reached a crisis point, I found myself confronting challenges that no amount of leadership experience could prepare me for.

This is a story of perseverance, vulnerability, and the unseen cost of service. It is an honest look at the sacrifices military families make, the strength required to endure life’s most difficult seasons, and the hope that can emerge even amid uncertainty. About Me

Micaela "Mica" Alexander, LPC

Micaela “Mica” Alexander is an executive, clinician, consultant, and entrepreneur. She holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from New Mexico State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Colorado. As a mental health advocate and enthusiastic military spouse supporter, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor turned C-suite business executive. Mica divides her time between family, traveling, consulting, and divides her time between clinical practice, mentorship, traveling, and her family.

This book is for any spouse or family member that has been the backbone of their servicemember’s career.

This book was on point, honest and an excellent example of demands placed on each member of a military family. As a military spouse myself, it brought back memories, which made me cry at times, laugh at times, be angry at times! But through it all this book helped me to appreciate the resilience we have when we put our trust and faith in God. This is also an excellent read for families who are geographically separated for whatever reason. This is truly a book where love prevails.
